Being a model I feel pressured to continually beautify myself to keep up with others in the industry. This includes nails, nutrition, etc, etc.
In early 2005 i also used to have hair extensions which were glued in, like many other women. What a stupid mistake that was! After a few weeks my hair started matting up and I ended looking like a winged cat with fuzzy clumps at each side of my head! Not a good look!

No matter how hard I tried to untangle the mess (I even used nail polish remover, I was so desperate!) my hair just kept coming out in clumps; which I now know is a very common problem. In the end, I had to cut the glue from my hair and I was left with a ridiculous self inflicted hair cut & shiny bald patches all over my head. I was so depressed because my looks are my income, so I knew I had to find a solution.

I scoured the internet for a full head's coverage of clip in human hair extensions, like I'd seen celebrities in magazines wearing; but back then the only ones available were hundreds of pounds! I decided to make my own and loved wearing them so much that i thought, 'Hey, maybe there are other women like me who would be as relieved to have a quick fix solution to their hair problems!' The idea snowballed from sitting at home by myself and painstakingly sewing individual custom made extensions to sell on Ebay, to launching a website and selling other well known brands across the globe. Word spread and the demand became too large for me to make my own product by myself...

...And that's how ModelManes.com was born.

A very proud moment after the hard work, trials and errors and starting off so small, was when Model Manes was asked to be an official Sponsor for the Miss England finals in 2007. We were finally on our way! The rest is history...

With the help of my UK based manufacturing team, Model Manes now ship human and synthetic hairpieces worldwide; and are proud to retail and sell to the trade, our own branded product, the 'Quickset'. (Invented by myself & exclusive to Model Manes) The Model Manes brand Quicksets are still individually hand made, in the UK, with ethically sourced hair. We sell to models, actors, people in the music industry...and most of all, the everyday public - people with hair loss problems, ladies who fancy a new image, women who want to feel more feminine and sexy. Our hair is designed to be FUN, not frightening!! Itchy, flaky glue on your pillow in the morning is history as far as I'm concerned.

Each day I receive emails from people in the same situation, who have had their hair literally ripped out by the glue in extensions tugging at their heads. I've thoroughly researched the extension business and when push comes to shove...hair and glue just don't mix! It's such a ridiculous thing to do in our quest for beauty. I still pride myself on personally dealing with customer enquiries and being heavily involved in the selling side of Model Manes. It's important to me to build a good rapport with our clientel, to get to know our customers and take their feedback on board, enabling the Model Manes brand to grow & keep up with the ever changing industry.

Because I've experienced the perils first hand, I totally and utterly believe in my product and the other famous brands that Model Manes sells. Every new brand is tried & tested to ensure only the best quality of products, before I even consider selling it to the public. I believe that clip in hair extensions are the way forward for us ladies who want beautiful long hair without the horrors.

As long as there are men and the media, women will always want fake breasts, fake nails, fake hair, fake eyelashes and anything else that enhances our natural beauty... Just make it fun, and most of all do it safely...!
